Having a disability such as cerebral palsy, you rely on people to do everything for you physically. There is no privacy when you are living with a physical disability such as mine, especially living with your parents. Having a disability also means you have to order a lot of supplies. If you have people opening your packages, how would you know if it is containing a Christmas gift if it only says your name? Or even worse, what if your dad thinks he is opening protein shakes when surprise it is really lingerie? These are my worst fears! But no fear, I found a solution!
I have two different names I put on my packages – “Megan Fry” and “Megan Fry’s Supplies”. Anyone can open the label that says “Megan Fry’s Supplies” including my parents and my personal care assistants without my permission. On the other hand, if it only says “Megan Fry”, they have to get my permission to open it.
In conclusion, living with cerebral palsy means relying on others for many physical tasks, which can be challenging for privacy. To maintain some control, I label my packages. This way, personal items stay private while essentials can be opened by my parents or personal care assistants. It’s a small step that helps me feel more independent and avoids any awkward surprises!

I have my packages sent to my parents’ house because my packages keep getting taken off my porch 😅. I’m going to use this tip for when I order their Christmas gifts! Sometimes they open my packages when I am not there because they think I want to know ASAP what has arrived. This way I can help keep their presents a surprise!
Cool blog, and fast!
Megan what a great idea to have two different labels on packages. You not only help others who are dependent on others but this idea can be used by others too . Keep up these great blogs. I am learning a lot from you. Love you always💕👍😊💕
