I have used the same eye gaze camera called PCEye Mini that allows me to control the computer such as a surface pro from TobiiDynavox by looking at where I want to click and blinking. I absolutely love how easy and quick it is to click a button with only a blink of an eye. However, the company decided to discontinue the blink feature. Now, you must use what they call “dwell” where you must have your eyes stare at a button to click. I absolutely hate this feature!
In addition to having to dwell on a button, you also must stare at a menu when you are on your desktop that has all your clicking options such as left and right click. Then, you must dwell on each clicking option in order to do that command.
As well as discontinuing the blink feature, you can only make straight lines when you are dragging the mouse. When I am painting on my computer, I need the capability of making curves. My college major is Digital Media which involves graphic design. If my two eye gaze cameras broke forcing me to switch to the new PC Eye, my whole college degree would be for nothing.
I don’t know why the company took these features away. I know I am not the only client who prefers to use blinking to make selections on my devices. It is so sad that they discontinued this type of eye gaze camera. Luckily, I have two working cameras. I used to have three. Unfortunately, the third one broke. I did try to send it in to get it fixed. However, they have discontinued fixing the old version making me out of luck.
I have been trying to find an alternative. However, I have been having no luck. I am constantly on ebay trying to hunt down another PCEye Mini. If you have any ideas for me, please let me know in the comments below. I hope this post will open TobiiDynavox’s eye and at least fix my eye gaze.

Hey! My son uses eye gaze to communicate also and I came across your page on the Tobiidynavox page. To read about someone I feel Tucker can relate to so well is nice. He’s only 10 so some of the things I read give me a glimpse of what his future can be like and relate too. Anyways! When I was looking for him a pc eye I saw several pceye minis for sale on eBay!
